Rethinking Virtual Communities
Written by Howard Rheingold, the article "Rethinking Virtual Communities" talks about computer technology, internet, and its social communities. He shared information on several different online website communities and the difference they make in individuals lives. In addition, Rheingold gave several different articles from different online communities sharing the discussions, questions, and ideas they had to solve issues throughout America. I picked the discussion question four to talk about today. In his conclusion, Rheingold spoke of the hope he had for strong internet virtual communities. By working together and using the tools that the internet provides we may have the capacity to change our futures. But if we fail to work together, work to try to change the way tools are used online, and respect people we will never make a difference in reviving democracy. We must have our minds set on what we want, learn as much as we can about it, and pursue our goals to make our communities, online and offline, a better place.

I believe that if the internet is used in a positive way for education it will make our futures alot better. Networking sites should protect people from explicit content by putting more restrictions on their site. The people of the Unitited States should work together to make the internet and its tools move and advance in a positive direction.
